TNG Theatrical Screenings Announced for Australia and Canada by Trek fm

While American Star Trek fans eagerly await big screen showings of “Where No One Has Gone Before” and “Datalore,” international fans watch from afar with envy. But that’s no longer the case for fans in Australia and Canada.

CBS has announced that they’re teaming up with Front Row Centre Events and BY Experience to bring the theatrical event to Canadians on July 23, and Australian fans will be treated to the same experience on July 26 thanks to NCM Fathom and Sharmill Films.

Like the US events, the screenings are designed to welcome the Blu-ray release of TNG Season One on Blu-ray, and are the perfect way to celebrate 25 years of The Next Generation.

Star Trek Online Unveils No-Win Scenario by Trek fm

In his latest dev blog entry, Star Trek Online Lead Content Designer Scott “Goatshark” Shicoff revealed some information about a new event coming to the game: The No-Win Scenario. And while Captain Kirk reprogrammed the computer so that it was possible to rescue the ship, you may not be so lucky.

In this event, captains will be put to the test as they take on wave after wave of enemy attacks. And like the Kobayashi Maru, it’s a simulation—thanks to the Holodeck training program. Still, you’ll want to win and the way to achieve this goal is by defeating the 10th and final wave.

A number of player awards are yours for the taking if you conquer the No-Win Scenario, and you can play by using the PvE Queue to join public or private queues. The event is available any time, but special dates and times that carry additional special awards will be announced as well.

No-Win Scenario will launch alongside STO Season 6: “Under Siege” and is available to both Federation and Klingon players. The event is designed for five-person groups and you must be a Vice Admiral or Lieutenant General to participate.

You can read the full blog entry on the STO website here.

Below is a look at the various locales, battles, and action you’ll find throughout Star Trek Online.

Watch the E3 Demo of Star Trek Console Games Co-op Feature by Trek fm

As we inch our way closer to 2013, we not only have the next Star Trek movie by J.J. Abrams to look forward to but also a new console game inspired by 2009 reboot.

Originally announced during Sony’s keynote address at last year’s E3, this officially licensed title for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC will be available in early 2013.

And at this year’s E3, developer Digital Extremes showed off side-by-side screens that demonstrated the co-op action in the game. With one player filling the shoes of Kirk and the other donning the pointy ears of Spock, friends can battle it out to see who gets Uhura’s hugs.

No wait. Friends can work together to defeat the enemy and make everything right with the universe. At least the alternate one.

The game looks amazing and is shaping up to be perhaps the best Star Trek experience ever on a console or PC.

Star Trek 2 Trailer Suggests Khan Is Back, Dupes the Internet by Trek fm

Twitter—and indeed all the Internets—was abuzz this week with word of a first teaser trailer for the next J.J. Abrams Star Trek. Of course, the trailer was… in the words of Vreenak… a FAAAAAAKE!!! Nevertheless it’s a wonderfully crafted fan trailer that duped many into believing it was the real thing.

Assembled by MOVIECLIPS, the suggestion is that Khan is back. We still don’t know what the sequel has in store for us, but if the story is as intriguing as this video then fans should be in for a treat. And if Khan comes back in this way, it might just be worth the trip back to the well.

You can find more great content from MOVIECLIPS on their YouTube channel.
